The select

About us

The Select in Sandy Springs was inspired by Paris’ famed Le Select, the chic 1920’s  brasserie known for being a free-spirited meeting place where artists and literary figures such as Hemmingway, Fitzgerald, Chagall, Picasso and Gertrude Stein who were looking for a safe haven for their progressive intellectual discussions, gathered. In fact, between the two wars, the entire Montparnasse area, where Le Select is located, was known as a sanctuary for creative and religious freedom and expression.  A respite from everyday life, The Select’s elegant yet approachable backdrop is perfect to enjoy the vibrant flavors of a seasonally inspired menu, and the most wonderful hand-crafted cocktails.

Enter The Select during one of our Happy Hours, Ladies Nights or Whiskey Wednesdays, and the excitement of the Roaring 20’s is back in full force.  In fact, just as Le Select was known for its late-night revelry, late nights on Fridays and Saturdays at The Select are buzzing with excitement.

Executive Chef Julian Parker

Julian Parker brings a wealth of multi-cultural culinary experience with him to the role of The Select’s Executive Chef. As a boy growing up in Medellin, Colombia, Julian began cooking at the age of 10 alongside his mother, a professional chef and caterer. And although he earned a degree in International Business, there was no denying his passion for cooking. After graduating college, Julian headed to Argentina to dive into their culinary scene, each year immersing himself in a different aspect of cooking – studying Italian and French cuisine, expertly preparing steaks and pairing food and wine.

He brought this vast knowledge with him when he moved to Atlanta in 2018. With each position he not only gained new knowledge, but the ability to translate all of the foods and culinary terms into English, which was no small feat. After working at some of Atlanta’s most celebrated restaurants including Stoney River and Osteria Mattone, Chef Julian became Sous Chef, and then quickly Executive Chef, at The Select. It’s at The Select where Chef Julian has been able to draw upon his international culinary background to create sensational new dishes for our globally inspired menu.

Now, when Chef Julian returns home to Colombia, he teaches his mother the new techniques he’s mastered at The Select, and she is thrilled to gain this knowledge from her son, who she’s incredibly proud of.

LE SELECT IN PARIS

The Story of Our Name

The Select pays homage to Paris' famed Le Select brasserie — the notable all-day gathering spot for artists and literary giants, including Picasso, Hemingway, and Fitzgerald. Drawing inspiration from the Parisian restaurant, The Select will serve as a definitive neighborhood destination while being a fine romantic restaurant in Atlanta that invites guests to share honest food, standout spirits, and friendly conversation in a welcoming and relaxed setting.

Ernest Hemingway wrote extensively about Le Select in his novels "The Sun Also Rises" and "A Moveable Feast" where all are welcome to enjoy good food, outstanding wine, and spirits, and engage in friendly conversation. Le Select is still open in Paris today!

Why the Select?

Our focus is to provide a memorable dining experience in the absolute safest environment. If you are looking for a COVID-safe restaurant near you, you’ll find it at The Select. We have implemented every safety protocol imaginable, from temperature checks upon arrival, hand sanitizer located at each table, hand-crafted plexiglass partitions between tables that are spaced 8-10 feet apart, every employee in the restaurant wearing gloves and masks. And if you prefer to eat outdoors, our beautifully appointed, expansive patio is covered with huge umbrellas, making it ideal to enjoy almost year-round. With all of these safety practices in place, The Select is simply the ideal restaurant and lounge in Atlanta to enjoy the finest food along with a stellar wine list and inventive cocktail menu.
